This role is about creating complex estimating workflows in capital-intensive projects. As the Lead, you will be responsible for architecting scalable systems that support cost modeling, and structured attribution of financial impacts. Your focus will be on high-performance infrastructure, automated testing, and robust auditability ensuring transparency, consistency, and confidence in decision-critical data.
What you will be doing:
-Design and own a scalable, modular architecture that supports complex estimate modeling across project phases and scopes.
-Build systems to attribute cost to risks, mitigation strategies, and evolving estimate structures.
-Ensure the platform is performant under large datasets and concurrent user activity.
-Prioritize extensibility and maintainability across microservices, storage, and APIs.
-Implement robust test automation frameworks (unit, integration, regression) for platform reliability.
-Ensure full traceability of changes to data and calculations through structured logging and audit layers.
-Enforce high standards for documentation, code clarity, and observability.
-Lead incident response and reliability initiatives where needed.
-Ingest and normalize data from spreadsheets, ERPs, and project delivery systems.
-Design data pipelines and services to support cross-phase variance analysis and cost forecasting.
-Collaborate with data teams to ensure models and metadata are aligned with end-user expectations and capital reporting needs.
What you need:
-5+ yrs of engineering experience, 2+ in a senior or lead role.
-Proven experience designing scalable backend systems (e.g., Python, Node.js, Go) with API and data-layer design.
-Strong grasp of automated testing, version-controlled data models, and systems observability.
-Experience working with financial, construction, or capital planning data experience.
-Comfortable leading architectural decisions, technical hiring, and sprint execution.
