Purchasing Agent
Position Overview
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for managing the procurement process for the organization, ensuring that all purchases are executed efficiently and cost-effectively. The role involves liaising with vendors, negotiating contracts, and managing purchase orders to maintain inventory levels and support operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the purchase order process from initiation to completion
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors to secure the best possible terms
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and assess market trends
- Maintain relationships with vendors and resolve any issues related to purchases
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with inventory control to ensure adequate stock
- Perform cost analysis to identify savings opportunities
- Oversee logistics and delivery schedules to ensure timely receipt of goods
- Implement quality assurance measures to evaluate the quality of purchased products
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of purchases and vendor interactions
Qualifications- Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent or similar role
- Strong skills in Purchase Order Management
- Knowledge of Supply Chain Management principles is a plus
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills
- Ability to conduct cost analysis and evaluate pricing options
- Familiarity with inventory control practices
- Experience in contract management and compliance
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
